90% Verdejo, 10% Viura from Rueda in north west Spain. Rueda has become one of Spain's premium white wine producing regions and Verdejo one of its noblest grapes. Think Sauvignon with more depth and interest.
Streamlined, elegant and very unshowy, this white wine made from verdejo and viura has all the crispness and limpidity you might want in an aperitif. With a mild air of meadow flowers and lithe citrus, it tastes deceptively simple, but there’s serious skill in here.

Verdejo is sometimes spoken of as Spain’s answer to sauvignon blanc but it is less shouty. This is a great example , boosted with a dollop of viura – broad like a fat blade of grass, with flavours of lemon peel and green peach. The perfect aperitif.
